Sleeping In the Deepest Dawn

Sleeping In the Deepest Dawn

I had my own share of the toil
Placing my bare hands in the soil
I had accomplished much for the day
Don’t care what critics had to say

With enthusiasm I welcomed the night
Grabbing my pillow, I slept like a knight
There would be no blinking
‘cos my eyelids would be hugging

Hard work had proved itself productive
So there would be no need for a sedative
I hope there be no disturbance
‘cos I intend sleeping even after dawn

I slept! Yes I did sleep for days
Missed lots of opportunities that came my way
Who shall awaken I and this country from this
‘cos we have indeed slept in our deepest dawn.

The Perverts

The Perverts

The pervert!
We thought they would lead us better
This they have proved wrong to the latter
A good route they had earlier took
Who could have changed the book?
The pervert!
They sit all day making laws
These were indeed all flaws
These laws would indeed bring doom
Abjectly placing us in a small room

The pervert!
They were suppose to take care of the educational sector
This they left in the hands of a Rector
Oh gosh! Where are we heading
Must we heed to their leading
The pervert!
My childhood friend would often say,
“The old will die; the young will grow”
This would one day hold sway
But when will this day finally crow

Oh Rain

Oh Rain

The clouds began to grow dark,
Announcing d onset of something liquid;
The thunders gave a loud bark,
Sure there was going to be fluid;

You could feel the cool breeze,
That would make your skin freeze;
There is going to be a downpour,
I pray it not be an outpour;

Farmers would be happy cos of their crops,
I won’t be, cos the fun would drop;
A caller said “Bos come home”,
Carried my bag and headed home;

I whispered a short prayer,
Lord, let it not rain on me;
In response to that prayer was a thunder,
Was that an appropriate reply?;

It did rain! Yes it rained on me,
At this, I was so very sad;
The tricycles would not stop for a wet passenger,
This made me all the more sad;

Finding shelter was the next option,
I saw a group praying in the rain;
The preacher had this caption,
Do not let your faith drain;

With such encouragement I smiled,
And said… thank God for the rain.
